Our Faculty Members Featured in the List of the Most Influential Scientists
The results of the 2023 list of the world's most influential scientists, compiled annually through a collaboration between Elsevier and Stanford University, have been announced. The study listed 223,152 scientists worldwide in the "Annual Impact" category and 217,097 scientists in the "Career-Long Impact" category. The rankings are based on objective metrics such as the number of high-quality publications, citation counts for these publications, the number of patents, the h-index, and the hm-index.
Two of our faculty members, Prof. Dr. Gülşen Eryiğit and Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlkay Öksüz, were included in the list of the world's most influential scientists announced through the Elsevier-Stanford University collaboration. Prof. Dr. Gülşen Eryiğit was recognized in the "Career-Long Impact" category, while Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlkay Öksüz was featured in the "Annual Impact" category. We congratulate our professors, the first faculty members from our department to achieve this recognition, as well as their research teams!
3rd Place in the TEKNOFEST Healthcare Artificial Intelligence Competition
Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlkay Öksüz and his Predictive Intelligence and Medical Imaging (PIMI) Research Laboratory placed 3rd in the TEKNOFEST Healthcare Artificial Intelligence Competition with their artificial intelligence project in mammography. Click for details.

YÖK Excellence in Achievement Award / Best Doctoral Thesis Award
At the 2024-2025 Higher Education Academic Year Opening Ceremony, held at Beştepe with the presence of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, our graduate Dr. Tülay Karakaş was honored with the "Best Doctoral Thesis Award" in the "Fine Arts and Architecture" category as part of the "YÖK Üstün Başarı Ödülleri" along with her advisors, Assoc. ITU’s 2024 'Highest Performance in Publications' Award
Talip Tolga Sarı, a research assistant in the Computer Engineering Department , has been awarded the 2023 "Highest Performance in Publications" award by ITU.
ASELSAN Academy Best Thesis Award
The ASELSAN Academy 2023-2024 Graduation Ceremony was held on September 12, 2024, at the ASELSAN Pond. During the event, the academic benefits and the added value of the graduates' theses to ASELSAN were evaluated. Outputs such as articles and patents derived from the theses were also considered, and rankings were made for each department. The top-ranked thesis in each field was recognized with awards.
In the field of Computer Engineering, ITU student Ömer Sinan Şahin received the top thesis award for his work titled "A Multi-Layer Intermittent Search Tree Approach for Radar Identification." The award was presented to his thesis advisor, Prof. Dr. Deniz Turgay Altılar, by ASELSAN General Manager Ahmet Akyol.
