Research Areas

The ITU Bioinformatics Research Group develops innovative computational methodologies and algorithms to analyze large-scale biological data, including genomics, metabolomics, and proteomics. Our lab conducts multidisciplinary research spanning from clinical genomics and systems biology to machine learning and computer-aided drug discovery. Our primary mission is to unravel biological complexities at the molecular level to provide high-impact solutions for personalized medicine, biotechnology, and health informatics. Our research activities encompass a broad range of topics including bioinformatics, systems biology, health informatics, and AI-enabled biomedical analysis. We develop advanced computational approaches for clinical data analysis, biological network modeling, multi-omics data integration, and biomedical signal and image processing. In addition, our laboratory actively contributes to the global bioinformatics community through open-source software development and international research collaborations. Beyond research activities, the group provides an interdisciplinary learning and research environment that supports students and researchers in gaining expertise in bioinformatics, data science, health technologies, and computational biology.
